Accessibility
Our goal
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard required in Québec by SGQRI 008 3.0, plus parts of WCAG 2.2.
What we've built in
- Reading settings on every page: text size, spacing, an alternative typeface (Atkinson Hyperlegible) and light, dark or high-contrast colours.
- Every text and colour combination meets at least 4.5:1 contrast, checked in all colour modes.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline.
- Meaning is never carried by colour alone.
- No animation or autoplay. The site respects your device's reduced-motion setting.
- The whole site is available in English and French, with the language marked for screen readers.
- Automated accessibility checks run every time the site changes.
Known limitations
- Event pictures come from event pages on Luma and are decorative; the event details are always written out in text.
- Registration happens on Luma, a third-party site we don't control.
- Recordings of past talks, when available, get captions before we post them.
